Home Learning - 18th November

Hello Year 3. I hope that you are finding the home learning simple to do. Please feel free to message me if you have any questions. Only a few of you have signed into Google Classroom, if you haven't tried yet please give it a go. Also I will be phoning everyone today and tomorrow to check how you are getting on.

See the teaching notes above to help you.

English

Yesterday, you should have written the first part of your poem, today you need to write the rest. This should be the problem and resolution of your poem.
Example; Your character falls off of the stage in the problem (this should be about 2 verses) and then they have time to practice, go back on the stage and then they are much better (another 2 or 3 verses)

What you need to remember;
  • Write in verses
  • Use interesting language
  • Capital letters, commas, apostrophes
  • Alliteration

If it is possible to send a picture and email it to me, that would be great!

Reading

Watch the video and answer the following questions, I ask these questions during the video so you can pause and answer them.

(Please let me know if you can't see the video).

1) What did you think the book was about from the front cover?
2) Do you think the mum believed her? What does she say that makes you think this?
3) What do you think she can hear in the walls? What makes you think this?
4) What kind of words are crackling and crumpling? Can you find any more?
5)What do you think her mother means when she says 'if the wolves come out it's all over'?
6)What do you think might happen next?

I will read the next part of the book tomorrow and leave some more questions for you to answer.

Bonjour from Madame Cartlidge

I am sorry that I am not going to see you in school this week, but here are some lessons for you which will prepare you for when we see each other again:

Wednesday 18th November
Please watch this BBC clip about the four countries of the UK:
Can you then find out what the flags look like for each country and choose one to draw and colour. If you are able, you could take a photo of your drawing to send in to me.
