A message from Miss Kondwani



Hiya Year 3,

We have officially finished our year together. It was great getting to know you all this year and there are many memories that I will cherish with my first Cabot class. You all worked incredibly hard and I am super proud of you all. It is unfortunate that we did not finish our year all together in school but I look forward to seeing you all in September. I hope that you have an amazing summer. Take care.

Last week of learning! WB 13.07.20



This is the last week of school where we will be posting learning and accepting learning to the year 3 email account. If you have fallen behind with the learning the summer holidays will be a chance for you to catch up on any learning on the blog that you have not completed such as units of English and Maths or other subjects like science and art. Look out for a transition message from your Year 4 teacher on the school website. Please stay safe over the holidays and keep busy. See you in September. Miss Kondwani

Our maths topic is Time - if you have not finished the previous lessons then please finish before starting these units. These 5 lessons will be on the Oak National Academy Website. if you have kept up to date we are doing lessons 1-5.





1) Watch the teaching video and complete any quizzes included
2) Pause the video  when prompted and  complete the activity in your yellow book
3) Mark your learning when the answers are presented
4) Email a copy of your learning by taking a photo or scanning and sending  it to year3.cabot@bristol-schools.uk

Please continue to learn your times tables up to 12 x 12 on TTRS  x1 for 15 mins and complete mathletics activities 2 x 15 mins per week

 RE and PSHE

This week we are looking at how are brain works when experiencing emotions. Watch the video below and then read and discuss the questions.

Activity:
    • You could draw a map of their local area, showing all the recycling collection points they know. These could include separate waste bins around your area, bottle banks, compost heaps in nearby gardens, charity shops, clothing banks and battery recycling points in local supermarkets. You could take a walk around the neighbourhood to identify more recycling points.

This week I have two activities for you about animals. For both of them, you will need some new words for describing what an animal looks like:

des écailles = scales (like a fish 🐟)
des plumes = feathers (like a bird 🦅)
de la peau = skin (like a pig 🐖)
de la fourrure = fur (like a rabbit 🐇)
un bec = beak (like a bird 🐦)
un cou = neck (like a giraffe 🦒)
des oreilles = ears (like an elephant 🐘)
des nageoires = flippers (like a dolphin 🐬)
des pattes = paws (like a dog 🐕)

Make up an Animal

Can you draw an imaginary animal and label it in French? 

Perhaps it has a very long neck, huge ears and flippers and is covered in fur? Or perhaps it can fly and swim and is bright blue! If you know your colours, you can add those too. 

If you can take a photo of your drawing and send it into school, let me know and I will try to get it printed for the school gate.

Escape Room

You will all remember the maths escape rooms you did last year, when you had to find a code to open a box. Well, I hope this link works for you because it is an online escape room, where you have to find the animals and play some games to get a code to unlock the zoo! Don’t let the lions out though!

Madame Cartlidge









Use this clip to empower yourself to tackle landscape drawing (an often daunting task), with confidence and creativity. Due to Ken Done's simple and imaginative approach, even the most anxious artist could feel inspired. Go to  to a significant local or national landmark, even the outside of your home, and provided with pencils or crayons in bold colours to draw the landmark. 

Alternatively, you could use images of landmarks, local, national or international, as a basis for your drawings. Whilst working,  remember  to employ your imagination whilst drawing what you see.
Or send a picture or a message to the community to go on the fence outside of school

Activity:
    • Have a go at building your own brain house (using junk modeling, construction blocks, or drawing) and then have a go at creating your own thinking and feeling characters to put inside.
    • Write about a time when you've experienced strong emotions and ‘flipped their lid’. 
    • Note down what helps them you to calm down and get your thinking brain working again.
    • Write stories about the characters in the brain house and the adventures they go on. Think about the strengths and weaknesses of these characters.

What strange weather we have had this week ! It has been hot, cold, rainy, stormy windy and sunny - and that is just today!

So I have a special weather activity for you to do - there is the chance to learn how to say all the different kinds of weather in French, before playing some games and learning a song.  

When you have finished, you could draw a picture of the weather today and label in in French. If you take your picture to school, you might even see it on the displayed on the fence!





Or send a picture or a message to the community to go on the fence outside of school
