 RE and PSHE

This week we are looking at the value of continuing to learn- watch the video below and then read and discuss the questions.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/phse-ks2-ethan-keep-learning/zdv2xyc
Questions to discuss or answer
  • Pupils are learning every day at school in the classroom, but what other sorts of learning do they
  •  Have discussions about what they learn from their hobbies or the activities they do outside school
  •  Reflect on skills and abilities they have developed that were hard to begin with.
  • For example, how was it the first time they rode a bike or tried to write their name? What helped them to improve?
  • Write about the things they would like to learn to do but haven’t mastered yet. What are the small steps they can take to keep working towards these goals?

Bonjour les enfants !

This week I have a video for you about lots of birthday presents. It was my birthday in April, just after we started lockdown, so unfortunately I wasn’t able to celebrate it properly, although my daughter did make me a lovely cake - yum yum (or miam miam as they say in French !)

The girl in this cartoon receives lots of clothes as presents. After you have watched it, I wonder if you will be able to draw a picture of your favourite outfit and label it in French? If you do, make sure you take a photo of your drawing and email it in to school.

Bonjour !

Well done if you guessed  that today’s title means “French at home with Mrs Cartlidge” !

I have had some lovely messages from children who had a go at making the crêpes from the recipe a couple of weeks ago  - thank you so much! I am missing seeing you all and that really cheered me up.

As you obviously enjoy cooking, I have another recipe for you this week: a popular French cake called ‘Madeleine’

If you can’t make the cakes yourself, you can watch this video of a mum and her son making Madeleines.

The recipe is not quite the same, but can you find out the name of the extra ingredient?

Au revoir !

Madame Cartlidge
